“We have provided assistance to victims twice in October and November,” he said at an online press conference on Thursday, December 6, 2021.
Siti said that the assistance for victims had not been maximized due to a number of limitations that Komnas Perempuan had. He said that one of the limitations that hindered the work of Komnas Perempuan was the limited number of psychologists.
“Since the beginning of January 2021, we have received 4500 reports of cases of violence. But until now, we have not been able to handle all of them. This NWR case is one of the 4,500 reported cases of sexual violence,” said Siti. Berita hari ini
Komnas Perempuan has also taken various ways to overcome these deficiencies, one of which is the participation of other parties such as volunteers or non-governmental organizations. However, Siti said that this has not been able to overcome the obstacles faced by Komnas Perempuan. He said that the task of advocating for sexual violence is a shared task.
“Therefore, we have also asked the central and regional governments to assist us in improving the quality of services to the public,” he said.
The case of alleged rape against NWR by Bripda R (21), a member of the police, has been brought to public attention. The reason is, R is known to rape his girlfriend, NWR (23), until the victim is pregnant. R also several times forced the victim to abort her womb.
